B.B. Comer finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year B.B. Comer finished seventh in Class 3A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. B.B. Comer was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 14.2 points a game. B.B. Comer struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 38.5 points a game. Since 2010, the B.B. Comer football program has struggled with a record of 20-52. Over the past 25 seasons, B.B. Comer has managed to compile a record of 101-171. Their 37.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 3A and 302nd in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2001. The Tigers are led by head coach Mike Battles Sr. who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 5-15 over the past two seasons at B.B. Comer. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Battles Sr.. Coach Battles Sr.'s overall record as a head football coach in thirty-two season stands at 214-135 -1 (61.3%). His 214 wins rank nd among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Battles Sr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seventeen times and won six region championships. Coach Battles Sr. won a state championship at in 2011. The B.B. Comer Tigers will play in Class 3A region three during the 2017 season. This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Weaver on Friday, September 1 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Weaver Bearcats finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in fourth place in Class 3A region five. The Bearcats lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Piedmont by a score of 52-28. B.B. Comer and Weaver have met a total of 10 times on the football field.
